edit-point-coordinate ("epc")

See this command in the command table.

To access this command:

  • Digitize ribbon > Edit > Coordinate.

  • Using the command line, enter "edit-point-coordinate" and press ENTER.

  • Use the quick key combination "epc".

  • Display the Find Command screen, locate edit-point-coordinate and click Run.

Command Overview

Edit the coordinates of the selected point or string vertex.

The following constraints should be considered when using this command:

  • When only points are selected, only the selected points can be edited.
  • If multiple points are selected, answering "No" to the "Move all selected points?" question moves a single point.
  • When moving selected points, the point originally picked moves to the required coordinates, with other points displaced by the same amount.
  • If both string and point data is selected, string data is affected only. String data edits will always take precedence over selected point data.

Command Steps:

  1. Launch the edit-point-coordinate command.
  2. Select one or more points or vertices to edit, using any available 3D window.

The Enter New Coordinate Screen displays.

  3. Edit the X, Y and Z values as required.
  4. Click OK to update the loaded data object in the 3D view.
  5. If multiple data points were selected, a "Move all selected points" prompt displays:
    • Select Yes to move all selected points or vertices to the 3D location indicated by the coordinate fields displayed.
    • Select No to update only the first selected point or vertex.

Command Automation

You can automate by passing this command and parameters into oDmApp.ParseCommand(), using any COM-aware scripting language.

Note: For more information on scripting in Studio NPVS+, please refer to your Scripting Tutorial (Help > Scripting Tutorial).

Example Parameter String (JS):

oDmApp.ParseCommand("edit-point-coordinate @point=100.0,200.0,0.0,1 '110.0' '210.0' '5.0'";

Where:

  • @point=100.0,200.0,0.0,1 is the ParsePointArguments: X,Y,Z,nButton.

  • '110.0' is the arg1: a string value parsed as a numeric new X coordinate for the edited point.

  • '210.0' is the arg2: a string value parsed as a numeric new Y coordinate for the edited point.

  • '5.0' is the arg3: a string value parsed as a numeric new Z coordinate for the edited point. For non-interactive scripting, arg1/arg2/arg3 should be provided together; otherwise dialog-driven input is used.

Parameter Description Reqd? Example Syntax
ParsePointArguments

X,Y,Z,nButton.

  • X is a numeric (double) world coordinate value for the point to edit.

  • Y is a numeric (double) world coordinate value for the point to edit.

  • Z is a numeric (double) world coordinate value for the point to edit.

  • nButton is an integer value parsed as part of @point input. Enumerated types are:

    • 1: Left mouse button behaviour

    • 2: Middle mouse button behaviour

    • 4: Right mouse button behaviour

Y @point=100.0,200.0,0.0,1
arg1

A string value parsed as a numeric new X coordinate for the edited point.

Y '110.0'
arg2

A string value parsed as a numeric new Y coordinate for the edited point.

Y '210.0'
arg3

A string value parsed as a numeric new Z coordinate for the edited point. For non-interactive scripting, arg1/arg2/arg3 should be provided together; otherwise dialog-driven input is used.
