See this command in the command table.

To access this command:

  • Edit ribbon > Transform > Geographic.

  • Using the command line, enter "transform-coordinates" and press ENTER.

  • Use the quick key combination "tco"

  • Display the Find Command screen, locate transform-coordinates and click Run.

Command Overview

Transform a 3D data file's coordinates from one coordinate system to another. Displays the Transform Coordinates screen.

Note: use the TRANSCO process to convert file-based coordinate data between systems.

To convert loaded data coordinates from one well-known or custom system to another:

  1. Run the command.

    The Transform Coordinates screen displays.

  2. Define the Source File and Target File names and parameters. See Transform Coordinates.

  3. Define the Source Coordinate System and Target Coordinate System parameters.

  4. Click OK.

Command Automation

You can automate by passing this command and parameters into oDmApp.ParseCommand(), using any COM-aware scripting language.

Note: For more information on scripting in Studio NPVS+, please refer to your Scripting Tutorial (Help > Scripting Tutorial).

Example Parameter String (JS):

oDmApp.ParseCommand("transform-coordinates 'InFile=input.csv;OutFile=output.csv;InCRS=EPSG:4326;OutCRS=EPSG:3857;X=X;Y=Y;Z=Z'";

Where:

  • InFile=input.csv is the InFile: String value for source input file path/name.

  • OutFile=output.csv is the OutFile: String value for output file path/name.

  • InCRS=EPSG:4326 is the InCRS: String value for source CRS key description, for example EPSG:4326.

  • OutCRS=EPSG:3857 is the OutCRS: String value for target CRS key description, for example EPSG:3857.

  • X=X is the X: String value naming the source X coordinate field/column.

  • Y=Y is the Y: String value naming the source Y coordinate field/column.

  • Z=Z is the Z: String value naming the source Z coordinate field/column.

Parameters Table

Parameter Description Reqd? Example Syntax
InFile String value for source input file path/name. Y InFile=input.csv
OutFile String value for output file path/name. Y OutFile=output.csv
InCRS String value for source CRS key description, for example EPSG:4326. Y InCRS=EPSG:4326
OutCRS String value for target CRS key description, for example EPSG:3857. Y OutCRS=EPSG:3857
X String value naming the source X coordinate field/column. Y X=X
Y String value naming the source Y coordinate field/column. Y Y=Y
Z String value naming the source Z coordinate field/column. Y Z=Z

Note: You can also automate the transformation of points in a physical file using the TRANSCO process in a macro.
