Brief Description

Extends a string from its end point, using the bearing and dip of the final segment, to a point where it meets another selected string. This is not necessarily an intersection as the strings may be in different planes.

How to Use

  1. Run the command. If no string is selected, you will be asked to select the string to be extended, using the cursor. The end point of the selected string closest to the mouse click will be marked and the extension will take place from this point. The bearing and dip of the string end segment are determined and used for the extension.

  2. Now select a second string (left or right click) to define the end of the extension. The function will check whether the strings will actually cross-over and the first string will be extended to the cross-over point with the second.

Notes

This command supports data preselection: if strings are already selected, only those strings can be extended to or from.

  • If you run the command with one or more selected strings, you can only extend to/from those selected strings i.e. you cannot pick non-selected strings
  • If you pre-select a single string and run the command then you can only extend that string to itself
  • If you pre-select multiple strings and run the command then you can extend to/from any of the selected strings

This function requires a string or strings to be displayed.
