Expression Translator (Attribute Value Editor)
To access this dialog:

Run the EXTRA process from the command line by typing 'extra'. Specify an input file, output file and (optionally) retrieval criteria and click OK - the Expression Translator will be displayed.

A custom version of this dialog is displayed when editing named value expressions using the Model Attributes, Mining Blocks Attributes or Reserves Attributes managed tasks (Values panel).
In this case, the dialog will be called Attribute Value Editor and contain additional functionality.
The following fields are available:
Expression: type, or build up interactively, a translation expression. When an expression has been added, it can be Tested or Cleared using the buttons described below.
Test: test the current expression's validity with this button. This information is shown in the Command control bar, and all syntax errors will be reported on a line-by-line and character-by-character basis.
Clear: clear the contents of the expression window with this button.
Input Fields: input fields associated with the specified input file are listed in this drop-down list. You can select and field and Add it to the Expression window.
Operators: select a conditional operator to construct your expression using one of the buttons displayed.
Functions and Procedures: there are four separate groups of syntax available for selection; numeric functions, string functions, procedures and record selection. These are explained further in the EXTRA full description Help topic.
In each case, select an item from the respective drop-down list and click Add to add it to the Expression window.
Named values: if you have launched
the Attribute Value Editor
from either the
Named constants: if you are performing model, mining block or reserves table attribution, the Attribute Value Editor will allow you to use any previously defined constants in your expressions. More...
Execute: process the expression translation on the selected input file, creating the defined output file (both of these were set using the EXTRA process's files, fields and parameters dialog). For more information on this dialog, see your online process help.
