Example - Create Bench Solids Splitting up phase solids into bench solids for block cutting |
Create Bench Solids
Studio OP uses "Phase Bench Solids" within the process of constructing the mining reserve solids. A phase bench solid contains one or more closed wireframes that represent an individual bench within a phase.
Phase Bench Solids are generated from the intersection of a phase solid with planes generated from the pit's Bench Definition.

Exercise: Creating bench solids
In this example, you are going to slice each of the 3 phase solids, created in the previous exercise, into subdivided volumes representing the mineable material present at each bench, within each phase.
- Using the Reserves ribbon, select Phases | Bench Solids. Data from the previous task will be unloaded.
- All the information Studio OP needs already exists; the phase solids are created and the benches have been defined - click Create All to generate individual volumes for each instance of a phase solid falling within each distinct bench. This can take a few seconds to generate.
- Select the global check boxes at the top of
the Bench Solids and
Bench Outlines columns,
then zoom / spin your data around in the Task
window to view it:
In the next exercise, you will define scheduling timeframe settings that will be used to determine the granularity of your schedule as it progresses into the future.
