Define Strata Attributes

Adding attributes to your generated strata volume data

Define Strata Attributes

To access this dialog:

  • Using the Define Strata task, select the Attributes tab.

The Define Strata managed task is part of Studio OP's managed reserves workflow and is used to specify the surfaces that will be used to construct an enclosed strata volume that defines structural boundaries within your reserves solids. Strata volumes can be used to describe discontinuities in the volumes you wish to segment into mining blocks, and their subsequent evaluation and scheduling.

The Attributes panel is used to define the attributes and corresponding values that you wish to add to your generated strata volumes. These attributes will be carried throughout Studio OP's managed reserves workflow into block evaluation and scheduling.

For example, you could specify a particular destination code for a strata volume, or simply nominate the bisecting structure(s) as waste material. Similarly, you choose to identify individual strata with a corporation-standard naming convention, and so on.

Attribution of strata volumes is performed on a per-strata basis; volumes must have been defined first (using the Define Strata main task - it is not necessary to have actually generated the volumes beforehand, but a Name is required) before they appear on this panel.  Once that's done, you can set up your attribute name, type and assign it to one or more of your generated strata volumes.

The default value for all new attributes is absent (-).

Specified attributes will be applied to nominated strata volumes once the Define Strata task is saved.

Field Details:

The Strata attributes table is split into two general areas; the uppermost section is used to define the attribute name and type, and the lower section is used to assign actual values for those attributes to your strata volume(s).

Pit: select the pit containing the strata volumes you wish to modify.

Attribute definitions: set up your attribute definitions here.

  1. Click New to add a new row to the table

  2. Define the attribute Name (which must be 8 characters or less on a short-field system, or 24 characters otherwise).

  3. Define the attribute Type. If you specify a [Numeric] type, you will only be able to specify numeric values in the table below (for that attribute). Similarly, if you set an [Alphanumeric] type, and a non-numeric value for a strata, if you subsequently change the attribute type to [Numeric], the previous value will be set to absent (-).

You can Delete a selected attribute or Delete All attributes, meaning these attributes will be removed from the corresponding strata volume data when the task is saved.

Strata: this table is used to assign the attributes defined above to the strata volumes for your pit.

This table contains a row item for each strata volume that has been defined (using the Define Strata task). All custom attributes will be shown as corresponding table columns. Initially, all values will be absent (-), but you can click into any of the attribute table cells and enter the required values for each strata.

If you have specified an alphanumeric attribute value, and the attribute is subsequently changed to [Numeric], that value will be reset to the default absent value (-).
