Description

Generate contours from points, including contours of the distance from the points. A points or strings file must be loaded to access this command. If string data is used, points will be extracted for the purpose of contouring.

Running this command displays the Generate Contours wizard.

This command can be used to model a unique keyfield value within the input object, such as a lithology or zone attribute, for example. It can also be used to model grade contours.

Points data is mandatory, but you can optionally generate contours to consider fault strings and clipping polygons. This command works on selected data, or if none is selected of the given type, all of the data in the specified object is considered.

The outputs from this command are (optionally) contour strings, an output grid model and/or an open wireframe surface.

This command can be used to model contours representing the distance from sample positions.

This command uses the Generate Contours dialog to:

  1. Define the scope of contouring; select input objects and a point data contour attribute (select an object attribute or <Distance from sample>).
  2. Define the extents of your contouring by setting a minimum/maximum X and Y of the data hull (with an optional margin) and the resolution of the output grid.
  3. Set up your estimation/interpolation options, including an optional search ellipse for anisotropic cases.
  4. Configure how contour strings are created; define the lowest and highest values (and interval) and how/if you wish to set variable elevation for each contour based on an attribute
  5. Choose if you want to output a grid object (a block model)
  6. Choose if you want to output a surface between the contours
