Description
Splits a closed wireframe - a 'solid' - or a selection of triangles representing a solid by a DTM (or selected triangles of a DTM). You may choose to keep the solid above the DTM data or the solid below it.
If the solid was a closed wireframe and had a clean line of intersection with the DTM, the new object will also be a closed solid.
Displays the Split solid by DTM dialog.
Note: This command supports flexible wireframe selection.
How to Use
-
Run the command.
-
Select the closed volume to be split (the Solid). This can either be an object or you can used Selected triangles data in a 3D window and use Store current selection to commit it to the command.
-
Select the DTM (open surface) that will split the Solid. As above, you can also use Store current selection if Selected triangles represent the DTM.
-
Choose whether you want your output to represent data above or below the DTM.
-
You can output data either within the Current object, an existing wireframe object (pick it from the list) or a new object (type a new name).
-
Click OK.
For example, in the image below the DTM (the wireframe doing the splitting) results in the image on the right if you choose to Keep Solid below DTM:
