Section Definitions, Rotation, Section Widths and Exaggerations |
View Settings
To access this dialog:

With the Plots window displayed, activate the View ribbon and select View | Set

With the Design window displayed, activate the View ribbon and select View Settings

Other view-specific commands relating to the Design and/or Plots window.
The View Settings dialog is used to configure the view section/plane settings that will be used to display data in the Design and Plots windows, although the affect of changing these settings will depend on the window in use.
If a Section Definition Table has been loaded (you can check this by viewing the tree of files shown in the Project Files control bar; if a Section Definitions folder exists - containing a file - then a table is loaded, if no folder can be seen - no table is yet loaded), you will have restricted access to the functions in this dialog, as a Section Definition Table will define the settings required.

Section Definition
This tab is automatically populated with the current view settings, although fields are editable. As with all tabs in this dialog, clicking Apply will update the current Design window view settings.

Mid-Point:

X: change the section mid-point X coordinate.

Y: change the section mid-point Y coordinate.

Z: change the section mid-point Z coordinate.

Width:

Width: use the scroll buttons to increase or decrease the section width.

Position:

Right: move to the next section midpoint position.

Left: move to the previous section midpoint position.

Apply clipping: tick this checkbox to apply the currently et clipping limits; as defined by the settings in the Clipping Limits dialog.

Dynamic: tick the checkbox to see updates in the Design or Plots window as settings are modified in this dialog. If disabled, you will need to click Apply to update the window view.
Rotate
This tab is used to set the Azimuth and Dip settings for the current view plane using sliders. You can update the view dynamically by enabling the Dynamic checkbox before you start.
Field Details:
Dip: use the vertical slider to set the dip value for the view plane, or select an option from the drop-down list.
Azimuth: use the horizontal slider to set the azimuth value for the view plane, or select an option from the drop-down list.
Dynamic: tick the checkbox to see updates in the Design or Plots window as settings are modified in this dialog. If disabled, you will need to click Apply to update the window view.
Section Width
This tab is used to set the width of the current view plane (in effect, the clipping limits) using a slider. You can update the view dynamically by enabling the Dynamic checkbox before you start. Clipping limits can also be applied using the Clipping Limits dialog.
Field Details:
Width: type a value into the text field or, use the slider to increase or decrease the width of the current view section.
Dynamic: tick the checkbox to see updates in the Design or Plots window as settings are modified in this dialog. If disabled, you will need to click Apply to update the window view.
Exaggeration
You can 'stretch' the viewing axes of the currently visible data using exaggeration. This tab is used to control the scale of any of the X, Y or Z axes. It is important to remember that exaggerating a dimension will not affect the underlying data, only the viewing scale. Exaggeration can also be set using the Exaggeration dialog, although this tab allows you to update the settings in real time, by enabling the Dynamic check box.
Field Details:
X, Y, Z: specify a scaling factor to a viewing axis using these fields. A setting of '1' represents the default scaling factor.
Dynamic: tick the checkbox to see updates in the Design or Plots window as settings are modified in this dialog. If disabled, you will need to click Apply to update the window view.
