Description

Splits a wireframe or selected triangle data into two parts using a plane which can be: the view plane; a plane specified by azimuth, inclination and a reference point; VR section; or a plane picked using the pointer (based on a wireframe triangle orientation).

Data will be output either as a wireframe object or to multiple objects.

Displays the Split dialog.

Note: This command supports flexible wireframe selection.

How to Use

  1. Run the command.

  2. Either select the wireframe Object using either the dropdown list or choose Selected triangles. You can select wireframe triangle data whilst the Split dialog is open if you wish.

  3. If you wish to process key field values separately, pick a Key field from the drop-down list, otherwise leave as <None>. If multiple object data is selected, only data columns common to all selected objects will be listed.

  4. Define or select the plane which will be used to split the wireframe object.

  5. Choose the origin of the plane that will be used to split the input data.

  6. You can output data either within the Current object, an existing wireframe object (pick it from the list) or a new object (type a new name). Alternatively, you can create multiple new objects, each containing one fragment of the original data. In the multiple objects case, you can choose your own prefix, which will be followed by a unique number. For example, the default "Split:" might result in "Split:0", "Split:1", "Split2": and so on.

  7. Choose if you wish to cap the new data so that it forms closed solids (Cap Ends).

  8. If one is available, choose the field representing the index that each entity is related to within the input data (Split Column).

  9. Click OK.
