Sharing Data With MineTrust

Note: This topic describes pre-release functionality for our development partners. MineTrust is coming soon, and if you are interested in finding out more about our powerful data management facility, please contact your local Datamine office.

MineTrust-enabled projects are a great way to collaborate on Studio-related tasks. With minimal setup, you can share projects and related data safely and securely.

You can Create a MineTrust-Enabled Project or open one created previously.

Opening Existing MineTrust Projects

By default, when an existing MineTrust-enabled project is opened, it starts up in "view-only" mode even if MineTrust is locally installed and MineTrust Connector service is running. This is to prevent accidental data changes. You can tell this by looking at the top of the primary 3D window, where a banner appears:

You will also see an icon in the top right corner of the application:

Click Enable Editing Mode to allow editing, providing the project isn't already in use by another user (you'll see a message if this is the case), the project and contents (known as the "MineTrust package") are 'locked', meaning other MineTrust users can't access it whilst you're busy with it. This lock is released when you close the project, or decide to stop synchronizing data.

See MineTrust View-Only Mode.

Note: When you create a new MineTrust project, it is automatically locked to you and opens in editing mode. Once you have configured your initial project, save it and close the application to upload the new project to the MineTrust endpoint. If the project is shared (you configure this when you create the project), others can then access it and collaborate with you.

Activity Steps

  1. On the File menu, click Open Project from MineTrust.

  2. Select the MineTrust package you want to open.

  3. Select a local folder for the project working copy.

  4. Open the project in View Only Mode, then click Enable Editing Mode when you are ready to make changes.

Share Data Using MineTrust

In example activity below, you will digitize a new string in a MineTrust-enabled project and commit the new data file to the MineTrust cloud host, ready for others to access it. The activity assumes you have a MineTrust-enabled project open in editing mode.

  1. In any 3D window, digitize a new string. See new-string ("ns").

  2. Save the string data as a new Datamine file in the current project directory (or any subfolder).

  3. Save the project.

  4. Close the project.

This automatically 'unlocks' the project and starts the process of synchronization.

Note: Data is not committed during a live project session. This minimizes data traffic and ensures you can prepare your data for others completely before sharing it.

Note: Synchronization is applied at the project package level.
