Database Settings

This section describes Studio Survey database settings. This includes defining the data storage hierarchy (see below) and the outputs created by each survey report.

Settings are applied courtesy of the Database Settings screen.

Data Storage Hierarchy

Your application relies on a fixed database structure to navigate the data that is stored within it.

You can Set up a new database, or link to an existing one using Database Settings.

Each Survey Database stores a collection of files organized within a hierarchical structure. The folder structure represents the location of data capture, the type of data that is being input or output and the date of surveying.

  • Open pit excavation survey data is stored using a Pit >> Area >> Data Type >> Date hierarchy.

  • Stockpile ROM survey data is stored using a ROM >> Data Type >> Date hierarchy.

  • Underground survey data is stored using a Decline >> Area >> Level >> Data Type >> Date hierarchy.

To add data to the Survey Database, use the Add to Database pane.

Outputs from a reporting function are created in the appropriate date folder. These outputs are used to publish reports for a given survey date or range of dates. Output data can include:

  • Datamine files representing 3D data.

  • A Datamine table containing summary survey results.

  • A PDF document.

  • An Excel document.

  • A plot file

PDF and Excel reports are formatted according to the specified reporting template. These templates are normally configured by Datamine during product implementation. In some cases, multiple templates can exist for report variants, e.g., a Memo Report can have different reporting templates for each support report type.
