Description
Creates a point at the mid-point of a selected string segment.
How to Use
-
Select the required string.
If, prior to running this command, a string has been selected by use of the select-string command, then new vertices will be inserted into the selected string only; otherwise points may be inserted into any string. A message is displayed in the Status Bar, showing which of these two cases apply.
-
Run the command.
-
Click to place the new point.
-
Repeat step 3 for any additional point(s).
-
Click Cancel.
Point Depth Interpolation
Inserting points in a CAD environment requires the interpolation of a third dimension. The position of the point is calculated as a mean interpolation of neighbouring screen points, relative to the view point, e.g.
For example, suppose the Design window's view plane is horizontal at an elevation of zero. Suppose also there is a string with each of its Z coordinates at 10. If a point is inserted then its Z coordinate will be added at an elevation of 10.
