String Tools
Your application provides a rich selection of tools for editing strings in a 3D window.
Here's a sample of the commonly-used commands.
Menu Command |
Quick Key |
Description |
ext |
Extends a string by adding new points to the end of it. |
|
ess |
Extends a string from its end point, using the bearing and dip of the final segment, to a point where it meets another selected string. This is not necessarily an intersection as the strings may be in different planes. |
|
bs |
Breaks a string at a selected point. |
|
bks |
Breaks a string where it is crossed by another selected control string. |
|
bki |
Breaks a selected strings at points where it intersects another string. |
|
conn |
Joins two strings together by creating a link between a selected end of each. |
|
rev |
Reverses the point order of a selected string. |
|
exp |
Creates a new string by offsetting a selected string by a specified distance in the view plane. The offset is measured perpendicular to each segment on the selected string and there is a prompt for selecting which direction to expand the string and the offset distance. |
|
- |
Creates a single string from string segments with common end points. |
|
ois |
Make a circular arc joining three points. |
|
oos |
Creates a new string by offsetting the selected string by a specified distance in the view plane. The offset is measured perpendicular to each segment on the selected string and will be on the outside of a closed string. |
|
com |
Generates a single string from two overlapping strings. The combination replaces both strings with a single string which consists of one side of the overlap from each string (selectable). This will have the attributes of the first selected string. |
|
ko |
Switch used in conjunction with combine-strings. When on, original strings are retained as well the new "combined" string. When off, only the "combined" string is retained. |
|
ctp |
Deletes string data inside or outside selected perimeter. |
|
tri |
Trims strings against a selected control string. |
|
stra |
Creates a new string from selected intersecting segments of existing strings. |
|
rap |
Toggles the capability to incorporate sections of other strings in a new string. All the sections between two snapped points of an existing string will be highlighted as part of the new string. |
|
r3 |
Creates a ramp by joining three points: a start, an end and a third point, selected interactively, on the arc. |
