Description

Set snap mode to snap to object lines.

How to use

  1. Run the command.

  2. Run the required, relevant design commands which would make use of this snap mode e.g. new-string.

  3. Set snap mode back to the default i.e. snap mode points.

Snapping is done to select points by using the right-mouse button, (second button on the pointer/mouse). If you snap to a point the location of the cursor will be set at the X Y and Z coordinates of that point. When using the left-mouse button (first button on the pointer/mouse), the cursor location is set at the X Y and Z coordinate of the point on the view plane on which the cursor lies.

If the SNAP MODE is set to POINTS, then when the right-mouse button is used the cursor will be set at the X Y and Z coordinate of the data point that is nearest to the cursor when the button is pressed. A data point is a point on a string or drill hole. Points available for snapping on drill holes are the sample end points and sample centre points. The sample ends are marked with tick marks and the centre points marked with circles.

If the SNAP MODE is set to LINES, then when the right-mouse button is used the cursor location will be set at the X Y and Z coordinate of a point on a line that is nearest to the cursor when the button is pressed. LINES available for snapping include strings and drill holes.

If the SNAP MODE is set to GRID then when the right-mouse button is used the cursor will be set at the X Y and Z coordinate of a grid point defined by the grid increment numbers on the dialogue panel. These can be changed by selecting them with the cursor and typing in a new value from the keyboard. The origin of the grid is initially at (0,0,0) but can also be reset. If the grid increment for an axis is set at zero no snapping will be done in that direction. Thus if the increments are X=10, Y=5 and Z=0, when the right-mouse button is used the cursor will be set at coordinates such as (30,15,34.23) and (400,255,87.56), depending upon the current view plane settings.

The SNAP MODE can be changed while in the middle of executing another command, such as defining a string. Thus the first point on a new string could be set at (4000,2000,6000) using a SNAP MODE setting of GRID, and then other points on the string defined by drill hole points using a SNAP MODE of POINTS.
