End Link Position

Determine the primary activity point within a group

End Link Position

Accessing this panel:

  • On the Edit Dependency Rules panel, click the browse button in the Link Position field (either From or To column groups).

Used during automatic dependency rules configuration to set an override in force for either the predecessor or successor activity.

The same dialog is used for both From and To searches to indicate which activity in a group you wish to use to be either the predecessor or successor.

The value of Overrider can be:

  • None: no overrider exists.

  • GroupPosition: a position within the group of activites, which can be either:

    • Start – the dependency will be drawn from/to the start activity in the same group as the activity found by the search.

    • Middle – the dependency will be drawn from/to the midpoint activity in the same group as the activity found by the search.

    • End – the dependency will be drawn from/to the end activity in the same group as the activity found by the search.

  • Offset: move the dependency point either forward or backward in the group by a predefined number of activities.

A positive number causes the dependency to move forward in the group (towards the End activity), and if the number is negative it causes the dependency to move backward in the group (towards the Start activity).  If the number would cause the dependency to move past the End activity then the dependency will use the End activity in the group.  If the number would cause the dependency to move past the start of the activity group, then the Start activity is used to draw the dependency.
