Studio UG Database Overview
The Studio UG database stores data relating to the currently active planning scenario.
The database is represented by a collection of folders on disk. These folders are created automatically with each project and are represented by the Managed Databases section of the Project Data control bar.
This differs from other Project Files, which are referenced but not directly managed by the Studio UG planning tasks, and stored outside of the database structure. Typically, reference data used for location belongs to this category. See Project Data Bar - Project Files.
Each Studio UG project is associated with a single database folder in the current project folder. it is called "UGDatabase".
See Project Data Bar - Managed Databases.
Database Structure
Managed Databases contains files defined, and used by, your planning workflow. Each file has a physical counterpart on disk, housed within a specific structure.
Warning: your Studio UG project expects a specific structure within its database. As such, you shouldn't edit the contents of the Studio UG database other than via the Studio UG application.
Each scenario folder contains inputs
to planning tasks such as the input model, FXS design strings, XML
configuration files and so on. It also contains the data generated
by those processes such as solids, evaluation results, dependency
tables and others.
Input Files
Commonly-used input files automatically
appear in the relevant sub-folder of this section when they are added
using the Settings
panel. These files can be added to your project from anywhere (they
don't have to reside in the project folder or database, just anywhere
accessible to the host PC).
Output Files
These files are created by the planning workflow tasks and will be found within your UG Database folder structure. They are split into categories and can be loaded, formatted and visualized using their respective context-sensitive menu options (see below).
