Description

Splits a wireframe into several parts using parallel planes, a set distance apart.

The planes can be: the view plane (and parallels); parallel planes specified by azimuth, inclination and a reference point; or parallel planes specified using the pointer.

The new split parts are saved to discrete wireframe objects.

How to Use

  1. Run the Command.

  2. In the Multiple Split dialog, select the wireframe object using either the drop down or the picking tool.

  3. Define the plane which will be used to split the wireframe object using one of the following methods:

    1. Click one of the standard plane orientation buttons (Horizontal, North-South and East-West) which will set the corresponding Azimuth and Inclination angles. Define where the plane will be in space by setting a Plane Reference Point (e.g. adjust the Z: value to the level where you wish a horizontal plane to split the selected wireframe object. The plane is logically infinite so the X and Y values are irrelevant in this case.)

    2. Set the orientation manually by editing the Azimuth: and Inclination: values, then fix the plane in space by setting a Plane Reference Point.

    3. Click the eponymous button to use the view plane.

    4. Use the Pick Face tool to select the face of an object to be used to split the wireframe.

  4. Set the Inter-plane Distance to define the separation of the parallel planes.

  5. Choose whether the ends created by the split operation should be capped.

  6. Click OK to run the operation.
