Parent and Child Component Relationships

In Supervisor, a component is any object that appears in the Project Tree. Components are split into two groups.

1. Data Components – Any component that only contains data.
2. Analysis Components – Components that contain plots or other analysis objects. Generally just referred to as "Components".

Components are often referred to as child, parent, sibling or grandparent components, when discussing their relationships with other components. Child components are dependent on parent and grandparent components in many situations, including component grouping.

The image below shows a basic component hierarchy in the Project Tree. In this tree, the 10000 and 50000 components are both children (child components) of FE, which is their parent component. The Iron_Ore_Unfolded.csv data component is the parent of FE and the grandparent of 10000 and 50000.

The Histogram, Log Probability Plot and Mean And Variance Plot components are each children of the domain or assay directly above them in the Project Tree.

Components with at least one child component have a + or - sign next to them to hide or display child components.

Note: Deleting a component with any child components also deletes all child components.
