Configure the Section Tab

The 3D Section tab controls if and how sections are shown. Sections in this context are areas with a restricted size in either the X, Y or Z direction. Only orthogonal sections, along the X, Y and Z axes, can be defined.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Data Component with associated 3D data from the Project Tree.
  2. Select the 3D Viewer tab at the top of the Main Canvas.
  3. Select the Section tab in the Property Panel.
  4. Configure the following options as required.
    • Section Slider – The slider on the right of the Section Property Panel. Move the slider up and down to move the section in the orientation defined by the Orientation field.
    • Orientation – Orientation of the section. Select from:

      • XY – Show a section in the XY plane. This is sometimes also referred to as Plan View. When you move the section, you move the section setting in the Z direction.
      • XZ – Show a section in the XZ plane. When you move the section, you move the section setting in the Y direction.
      • YZ – Show a section in the YZ plane. When you move the section, you move the section setting in the X direction.
    • Show data borders – Show the outline of the section along the data borders.
    • X, Y or Z – Mid value of the section window.
    • Towards – Distance from the mid value of the section to the border of the section towards the higher Z (X or Y) value.
    • Away – Distance from the mid value of the section to the border of the section towards the lower Z (X or Y) value.
    • Step – Distance between one section and the next. Default: Total value of Towards and Away fields.
    • Show all of string – Show all of the string's data including the samples that fall outside the section.
    • Colour all – Whether to colour the values that are outside the section using the selected colour key. Only available if Show all of string is checked.
