Probability Plot Segment Models

Two types of segment models can be inserted beneath Probability Plot components to allow the full range of a distribution to be modelled. These models include:

  • Tail Models – Ranges from 0% to the first percentile and from the last percentile to 100%.
  • Middle Segment Model – Ranges from the first to last percentile.

The segment models are used in:

  • Indicator kriging
  • Sequential gaussian simulation – The upper and lower tail models are used when back-transforming the normal distribution to the data distribution for values outside the data range.
  • Sequential indicator simulation – The upper, lower and middle segment models are applied to the CDF plot generated at each node using indicator kriging.

When viewing the segment models the black line represents the actual data distribution and the interpolation model is shown in green.
