Configure Graph Fitting Properties

The Hermite Polynomial Fitting tab allows you to model the cumulative distribution using up to 100 Hermite polynomials. This is useful when doing variogram back-transformations in Supervisor.

Activity Steps

  1. Display the Probability plot.
  2. In the Property Panel, select the Fitting tab.
  3. Configure the following options as required.
    • Enable Curve Fitting – Display the fitted curve on the Probability plot.
    • Number of Polynomials – Number of polynomials (between 3 and 100) used in the curve fitting algorithm.

Tip: The optimum number of polynomials is the minimum above which the fit does not noticeably improve.

    • Model PSI Variance – Variance of the fitted curve. This value should be close to the variance of the fitted curve, and should be close to the dataset variance for a good fit. for a good fit. Read-only.
    • Actual Variance – Variance of the dataset for comparison with the Model PSI Variance. Read-Only.

Note: In some cases the polynomial may not display, due to instabilities in the polynomial calculation. To fix this, change the number of polynomials used.
