Evaluate the Impact Level of an Incident

This topic describes how to evaluate and classify the impact level of an incident using the risk matrix in ZYGHT. This process is crucial for determining the severity and appropriate response to an incident.

Activity Steps

  1. Navigate to the Main Menu and select Incidents > View Incidents.
  2. Use the available filters to locate the specific incident you need to evaluate.
  3. Open the incident record.
  4. Click Continue, typically located in the bottom-right corner of the screen, to advance from the Immediate Report (or Flash Report) stage to the Preliminary Report stage.

Classification and Association

  1. In the Preliminary Report section, classify the incident according to its type and characteristics.
  2. Assign the incident to the correct organizational node and company.

Pure Risk Analysis

  1. Perform a Pure Risk Analysis. The steps vary slightly depending on your system configuration:
    • If a generic risk matrix is configured:
      1. Select the Pure Risk Analysis option.
      2. Click View Risk Matrix to open the evaluation tool.
      3. Choose the risk evaluation criteria from the matrix that best correspond to the reported incident.
      4. Complete all other required fields in the Preliminary Report.
      5. Proceed with the incident management workflow. At Step 4 (Methodology Selection), the system will display the result of the associated risk evaluation.
    • If scopes are configured (e.g., for different types of impact like environmental, financial, reputational):
      1. Select the Pure Risk Analysis option.
      2. Choose the specific scope you want to evaluate (e.g., Environmental Impact).
      3. Click View Risk Matrix to open the evaluation tool for that scope.
      4. Select the risk evaluation criteria from the matrix that best correspond to the incident for the chosen scope.
      5. Repeat this risk evaluation for each available scope relevant to the incident.
      6. Complete all other required fields in the Preliminary Report.
      7. Proceed with the incident management workflow. At Step 4 (Methodology Selection), the system will display the highest risk level identified among all the evaluated scopes.

View the Impact Level

  1. Once the evaluation is complete, the Incident Impact Level field will be populated and visible.
  2. This field can be found in the View Incidents datatable (the main list of incidents).
  3. The Incident Impact Level will also be included in any PDF reports generated for the incident.
  4. If scopes were used for the evaluation, this field will automatically display the highest risk level determined across all evaluated scopes.

Evaluating the incident impact level accurately is essential for effective incident management and subsequent analysis.
