Sample Batches
The initial step in the workflow is logging samples into the system. Samples can be logged into the sample batches page using several methods. They can also be registered by a client in a submittal. For more details on the different methods of logging samples into the AssayNet LIMS, please see the related topics.
Samples can then be retrieved from a series or the client submittal on the sample batch page, or entered directly into a new batch using the Receive Samples Using the Login Module. All these options will create a unique batch ID, providing accurate tracking of the samples through the entire process.
The sample batches stage is the first page in the user interface. Each sample in the batch is assigned a sample type, packages, export configuration, and more. This assignment provides crucial links for the samples, guiding them through the subsequent stages of the process.
Links are also created to the respective clients and their projects. This connection is utilized during the export stage of the process.
Important Note on Mandatory and Optional Fields Across All Menus in the System
All fields marked with a red line at the end are mandatory and must be filled in. This requirement applies consistently across all menus and screens within the AssayNet LIMS system.
On the other hand, some fields that are not marked as mandatory may not apply to the requirements of your specific operation and therefore may not need to be filled in. For example, in the case of this activity, the Work Order field may be required in some operations—most commonly in commercial laboratories—but may not be necessary in your case. It is important to understand which non-mandatory fields are relevant to your workflow, not only for this activity but throughout all menus in the AssayNet system.
