Configure a Package Retest
A package retest is an efficient way to automatically generate retests based on specific criteria applied to sample results. After samples are analyzed, if certain results exceed a defined threshold, the system flags those results and automatically selects them for retesting based on the configured retest type.
Package retests support configuring different retest conditions, allowing the system to automatically create a new instrument run for the selected samples and schemes. This can include generating a new laboratory job to reweigh samples, or starting a new client job to initiate the full analysis workflow. Additionally, you can initiate a new client job with a different analysis method for alternative testing approaches.
Note: You can initiate package retesting via the Retest from Package option on the Results Summary screen. For more information, see Configure a Sample Retest
This activity describes how to create and configure a new package retest.
Activity Steps
- On the Profile ribbon tab, under the Analysis group, click Package.
The Packages screen displays.
- Select the Package.
-
Click Setup » Retest.
The Package Rules screen displays.
-
Click New.
The Add Package Rule screen displays.
-
Complete the following fields as required:
- Rule Name
- Retest Samples where—Select from the analyte schemes available in the package.
- Is higher or equal to—Enter the numeric value that triggers the rule.
- Is lower than
Note: You can test for either condition, or for both conditions in the same configuration.
- In the Retest Type category group, select from:
- Re-Run (new Instrument Run)—Creates a new run for the flagged samples. When selected, additional fields become enabled. Select from the following options as required:
- Add to Current Instrument Run
- Create New Instrument Run
- Select Change Instrument if required. If checked, you can select the new instrument and assign a new Import Template (if required).
Note: The Add to Existing Instrument Run option is not available.
- Re-Analyze—Creates a new laboratory job under the same client job. This is useful when new measurements (e.g., weights) are required. If selected, additional fields display. Select from:
- Create New Laboratory Job
- Create Run(s)
- Re-Test - Creates New Client Job—Creates a new client job using the same packages assigned to the samples, or allows selecting different packages if required. If selected, additional fields display. Select from:
- Use Analysis Code to Set Options—Uses the analysis code options to set up the client job. For more information, see Configure Retest Options for Analysis Codes.
- Set options manually—Allows you to manually select from the available analysis code options, see step 3.
- Select the Package—You can select a new package with a different suite of analyses, or reuse the same package for the retest.
- Select from the following fields as required. Different fields are enabled based on the selected Re-Test option.
- Print Control Cards
- Use All Package Schemes
- Merge Analysis Codes
- Create Lab Jobs
- Use Template for Setup
- Create Instrument Runs
- Use Template for Setup
- Use Existing Client Jobs (adjust Schemes)
- Re-Run (new Instrument Run)—Creates a new run for the flagged samples. When selected, additional fields become enabled. Select from the following options as required:
-
In the Results Approval category group, select from:
- Unapprove Results for Retest—Removes approval from the original results, allowing modifications before retesting.
- Hold Results for Retest—Keeps all retest results on hold, preventing them from being included in reports until the retest is completed.
- No Action—Leaves the original results unchanged, allowing the retest to proceed without affecting their status.
- Copy Approval to other Levels—Copies the selected Results Approval setting to other approval levels.
- Click OK.
