Add a Prep QC Sample
Prep quality control (prep QC) samples are introduced into the sample batch during the preparation stage. The initial weight for prep QC samples can be entered in the Data Capture screen. For more information, see Enter Initial Sample Weight.
While similar to reference material (CRM) samples, QC samples serve a distinct purpose and are not introduced at the analytical stage like reference materials. One common use of prep QC samples is to clean the sample preparation equipment using barren material after processing a batch. These washings are then included in the batch for analysis to assess the potential for cross-contamination between samples, ensuring the integrity of subsequent analysis. This practice helps monitor and minimize contamination risks during the preparation process.
