Capture sample weights

Sample Login can read the weight of each sample directly from a balance that is paired with the device over Bluetooth. The weight is recorded against the sample without being read off the balance display and typed in.

This activity presumes that the balance is already paired with the mobile device in the Android Bluetooth settings, and that the instrument is configured in AssayNet LIMS.

Activity steps:

1. Open the navigation menu and tap Settings.

2. Under Sample Login, tap Capture sample weights.

   The Capture Sample Weights screen displays.

3. Turn on Capture Sample Weights.

   Note: The application asks for permission to connect to the paired balance. Weight capture does not start until the permission is granted.

4. Select the Instrument. This is the balance as it is configured in AssayNet LIMS.

5. Select the Bluetooth Device. This is the paired balance.

   Note: The message Bluetooth device not found means the balance is not paired with the device, or is switched off. Pair the balance in the Android Bluetooth settings and try again.

6. Check Status.

   The value is Connected when the application can read from the balance, and Not connected when it cannot.

7. Select whether to turn on Auto Capture.

   When this setting is on, the weight is read as each barcode is scanned, so the operator does not start the reading. Default: off.
