Record sample locations
The application records the position of each sample as it is scanned, using the Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver in the device. The positions display as markers on a map, and the sampler does not perform an extra step for each sample.
Location capture is turned off until it is enabled in the settings.
To enable location capture:
-
From the home screen, open the navigation menu and tap Settings.
-
Under Sample Tracking, turn on Enable location.
-
Return to the home screen. When the device asks for location permission, select While using the app.
To use the map:
-
Tap a submittal to open it.
-
Tap Map.
The map displays your current position and bearing. A marker displays for each sample that has a recorded position.
-
While the device still has a connection, tap Add and then Save Map.
The map area around your position is stored on the device, so the map remains available when the device goes out of range.
-
Scan samples from the map screen, or from the sample list, in the usual way. See Collect and scan samples.
The position is captured with each sample as it is scanned.
-
To add a sample from the map screen when the tag cannot be scanned, tap Add and then Enter code.
-
To see the position of one sample, tap the sample in the sample list.
The Sample Details screen displays the position in the Sampled Location field. The Planned Location field holds the position supplied with the submittal, when one was supplied.
Note: When several samples were taken close together, the application asks which marker you mean before it opens a sample.
