To enter sample idents using manual ident entry:
- Select the Samples » Sample idents sub-tab to display the content of the sample idents file/field.
- To specify sample idents one at a time, typically used to define a CUID SYSTEM Number Sequence as the sample ident for a template job which is then used to generate sample idents for a job created from the template job:
- Select Ident type as 1, and enter the sample ident string in the Template.
- To specify sample idents using a sequence that increments or decrements by 1, with a wildcard string positioning the numerical fill:
- Select Ident type as 2, enter the sample ident string containing one wildcard string in the Template, and enter the From and To.
- To specify sample idents using a sequence that increments or decrements by a given step, with a wildcard string positioning the numerical fill:
- Select Ident type as 3, enter the sample ident string containing one wildcard string in the Template, and enter the From, To and Step.
- To specify sample idents using two sequences that each increment or decrement by a given step, with two wildcard strings positioning the numerical fills, typically used to enter down hole from-to type depth specifications as part of the sample number:
- Select Ident type as 4, enter the sample ident string containing two wildcard strings in the Template, enter the From, To and Step for the first sequence, and enter the From, To and Step for the second sequence.
- To specify sample idents using two sequences in which the first sequence increments or decrements by a given step and the second sequence iterates around supplied text strings, with two wildcard strings positioning the numerical and string fills:
- Select Ident type as 5, enter the sample ident string containing numeric one wildcard string and one text wildcard string in the Template, enter the From, To and Step, and enter each text replacement string on its own line in the Block.

- Select Ident type as 5, enter the external sample ident string containing numeric one wildcard string and one text wildcard string in the Template, enter the From, To and Step, and enter each text replacement string on its own line in the Block.
- To register the associated samples as duplicate (DUP) samples instead of unknown (UNK) samples, add the string DUP at the start of any of the items in the External sample idents grid.
