Maintaining Consumables

Overview

Consumables are those materials that are used in the analytical process of a laboratory. After consumables are created for a given consumable type, they are linked to suppliers and usage by scheme. This then allows for the recording of consumable usage by scheme and supply. Historical usage by scheme and supply can be viewed and updated.

This process is pertinent to laboratory managers and laboratory supervisors who record consumable usage and supply to ensure sufficient materials for ongoing analytical processes.

Process

Consumables are maintained by the Consumables application. You need specific rights to have visibility to this application.

Consumables are maintained using simple SCRUD (search, create, review, update, delete) functionality under the Consumables » Consumable node. You need specific rights to have visibility to this node.

Maintain consumables

A consumable links to multiple schemes, with each scheme's usage set, such that, when consumable usage is recorded for a scheme, the default usage is deducted from the current quantity of consumable. A consumable links to multiple suppliers, such that, when consumable supply is recorded, the default supply is added to the current quantity of consumable.
