Search for discrete QC sample assessments

  1. Click the drop-down arrow next to the Open icon on the main menu and select Discrete from the menu to display the PERFANA—Perfana Form.

    Note: A discrete search is the default on start up of the QC application.

  2. Click Criteria to display the PERFANA—Criteria Form.

  3. To enter QC test criteria:

    1. Select the General tab.

    2. Select the QC type on which to perform the QC analysis. Selecting Blank provides information on the level of contamination. Selecting Standard provides information on the level of analytical bias (accuracy). Selecting Replicate, Duplicate or Replicate/Duplicate provides information on the level of repeatability (precision).

    3. Select the Analyte status. Note that selecting All excludes ignored discrete QC sample assessments.

    4. To select one QC code for QC analysis:

      1. Select the QC code.

    5. To select multiple QC codes for QC analysis:

      1. Click .... to open the PERFANA—MultipleQCCodes Form.

      2. Move the required QC codes to the right-hand side.

      3. Click OK to close the form and add the QC code criteria.

    6. To select one scheme for QC analysis:

      1. Select the Scheme.

    7. To select multiple schemes for QC analysis:

      1. Click .... to open the PERFANA—MultipleSchemes Form.

      2. Move the required schemes to the right-hand side.

      3. Click OK to close the form and add the scheme criteria.

    8. Select the Scheme version.

    9. Select the Analyte.

    10. Select the Units.

    11. To limit the QC results to a selected date range, check Dates and enter the date range.

  4. To enter criteria based on the job, client and staff member who performed the analysis:

    1. Select the Miscellaneous tab.

    2. From the Job list, select one or more jobs on which to search, using the Ctrl and Shift keys to select multiple jobs.

    3. Uncheck the Use client group check box and enter a search string in the field that matches one or more client codes, using the percent sign (%) as a wildcard, and click the F2 function key to open the client lookup form to display matching client codes from all laboratories, including clients that are disabled, and double-click the required client code to add the client to the Client list, ensuring that a client code's check box is checked to apply that client in the criteria.

    4. Check the Use client group check box to populate the Client list with client group codes, and use the Ctrl and Shjift keys to select one or more client groups on which to search.

    5. Uncheck the Use staff group check box to populate the Staff list with staff codes, and use the Ctrl and Shift keys to select one or more staff members on which to search.

    6. Check the Use staff group check box to populate the Staff list with staff group codes, and use the Ctrl and Shjift keys to select one or more staff groups on which to search.

  5. To enter criteria based on a range of assessment outcomes:

    1. Select the Statistics tab to display the statistical limits for use in plotting. If multiple schemes are selected on the General tab, then the statistics for the first scheme display.

    2. To obtain the statistical limits for use on plots from the QCHISTORY table:

      1. Click Update.

    3. To use other values for the statistical limits:

      1. Manually enter the statistical values to be used on plots.

  6. Click Apply to apply the criteria and display the discrete QC sample assessments that match the criteria, click OK to close the form as well, or click Cancel to close the form and not proceed with applying the criteria.
