Generating Job Reports

Overview

Analytical reports can be generated once the analysis is complete and passed quality control.

Job reports are created using Microsoft™ Excel or the Crystal Reports reporting engine.

This process is pertinent to front office personnel, laboratory managers, QC managers and supervisors who generate job reports.

Process

Report generation is managed using the Reports application.

Finding Reportable Jobs

Reportable jobs are located either using a forms containing custom search criteria, via client and project, or directly by the jobs list.

Find jobs using a job reporting search

Note: At any time in the Job Report module, press the F5 function key to refresh all job details.

A report can be generated from the list of jobs returned from a search.

Running a Custom Script from Job Reporting

Job reporting often involves the running of custom scripts to enhance the process.

Updating Job Report Details and Generating Job Reports

Once the reportable job is located, it is opened to set up and generate the report.

Open a reportable job

Reports are created either as internal, preliminary (upon which the job's first reported date is set if it was not already set) or final (upon which the job's first reported date is set if it was not already set, and last reported date is set). An option exists to report uncorrected values.

Job reports are generated either in job client mode or report client/s mode, that is, one job report can be generated for the job's primary client contact, or one or more job reports can be generated for the job's report client contacts.

Changes to which samples are reportable are saved to the job's samples.

Reporting to Sub-clients

If a job has sub-clients attached to it, when the job is reported, then the Analytical Report application generates reports for all the sub-clients only (not for the job client). If a job has no sub-clients attached to it, when the job is reported, then a report is generated for the job's client only. No reports are generated for sub-clients when Excel™ report templates, or a mix of Crystal Report and Excel™ report templates, are used.

Reporting Non-validated Results

Generally, non-validated or quality control failure results are not reported.

When a non-validated or quality control failure result is reported, a raw value is printed as asterisks (******), a numeric value is printed as -9000, and a final value is printed as asterisks (******.***). This also occurs when the Picture in the Rounding Table is not large enough.

Reporting Rounded Results

The test to determine whether the analytical result is less than the detection limit is made after the analytical result is rounded. This is to cater for situations where, for example, a value of 0.6, which after rounding has a value of 1, yields different results on a detection limit of 0.7.

The report will contain asterisks (******) if there are no rounding table details.
