Overview

The CCLAS application is a laboratory information management system (LIMS) that allows consumer and process control laboratories manage the efficient turnaround of samples from registration to reporting and invoicing, an monitor quality of the analytical process along the way.

This process is pertinent to LIMS and laboratory managers who configure the LIMS, and the look and feel of applications to enhance laboratory processes and the user experience.

Process

Configuring Access to the CCLAS Application

The CCLAS application is launched either by accessing the CCLAS icon on the desktop, or by opening the CCLAS.exe file in the folder defined by the ExeDirectory GLOBAL setting. To configure user access to the CCLAS application, set the AccessLevel CCLAS program setting.

To display tips to users upon start up of the CCLAS application, enable the ShowTipOfTheDay CCLAS program setting, and enter the tips, with one tip per line, in a text file, place the file in a folder under the CCLAS root folder defined by the CCLASRootDirectory GLOBAL setting, then set the TipofTheDayFile CCLAS program setting to the folder and file name, for example %CCLASRootDirectory%TIPS\CCLAS.TIP.

To maintain the window size and position between closing and launching the CCLAS application, set the Window CCLAS program setting.

Configuring which CCLAS Menu Displays

Set the StartMenu CCLAS program setting to the name of the menu to load upon launching of the CCLAS application.

If the ShowBrowser CCLAS program setting is enabled, then a browser-based menu style is used instead of the classic menu style.
If the AllowToggle CCLAS program setting is enabled, then the F8 function key toggles between the list-view browser-based menu style and the classic menu style.

Refer to Using the V2 Menu to see how other CCLAS program setting are used.

Configuring Reconnection for a Lost CCLAS Database Connection

Upon user log in, the Pool Control and Security Manager applications establish a connection to the CCLAS EL database, and security for the session, respectively. Refer to Managing the Database Connection and Security.

Where the existing connection to the CCLAS EL database is broken for any reason, then the DBReconnect CCLAS program setting defines the number of times a reconnection is attempted. The DBReconnectDelay CCLAS program setting defines the delay time between these attempts.

Configuring Log Out

When you exit CCLAS EL, if the AutoDisconnect CCLAS program setting is enabled, then the Pool Control and Security Manager processes are closed. Typically this setting is disabled to keep the Pool Control and Security Manager processes running after the CCLAS EL Menu is terminated, allowing you to launch CCLAS EL applications directly from shortcuts or the command line, without using the CCLAS EL Menu.

When you exit CCLAS EL, if the AutoLicenceOut GLOBAL setting is enabled, the licence slot is released by having its status changed from In use to Not in use when the last CCLAS EL application is closed.
If the AutoLogout CCLAS program setting is enabled, any other CCLAS EL applications running are automatically closed.

When you close all CCLAS EL applications, if the AutoLicenceOut GLOBAL setting is enabled and the user's own AutoLogout CCLAS program setting is enabled, the licence slot is released by having its status changed from In use to Not in use when the last CCLAS application is closed.
