Configuring Scheduled Tasks

Overview

Task scheduling manages the automatic running of CCLAS processes that can normally be accomplished by a CCLAS application or VBScript. This includes report generation, data collection from instruments, pulling data into the CCLAS database, sample registration, etc.

These tasks can written with VBScript, or any other scripting language.

This process is pertinent to LIMS and laboratory managers who configure task schedules.

Process

Tasks are scheduled for execution using the Task Scheduler application. Tasks are configured under task scheduler sessions. You need specific rights to have visibility to this application.

Task scheduler sessions are maintained using simple SCRUD (search, create, review, update, delete) functionality under the Schedules node. You need specific rights to have visibility to this node.

Maintain task scheduler sessions

A task scheduler session can have multiple tasks.

Maintain tasks for a task scheduler session

Reset the next date for a task in a task scheduler session

Toggle the activity status of a task in a task scheduler session

Once tasks are defined for a task scheduler session, they can be executed on the system scheduler.

Execute or terminate the tasks in a task scheduler session

Sometimes it is necessary to unlock a scheduled session. A session is locked when it has been scheduled, and unlocked when the schedule is closed. Occasionally, locked sessions may need to be unlocked (for example, due to a system failure event).
