Import a Drill Navigation Log
You can import drilling data from an external system if the data is in a .csv or .txt file. See File Formats.
This video, recorded using an earlier version of DataBlast Pro, provides an example of how to import a drill navigation log.
Activity Steps
- Select the Drill module.
- Select a drill pattern in the DataBlast Items Tree.
The drill pattern displays in the Viewport.
- On the Drill Ribbon Menu, in the Drill group, click Import Drill Navigation Logs.
The Drill Log Import screen displays.
- Click the ellipsis (...) to browse for and select the data file in .csv or .txt format.
The data from the .csv or .txt file displays.
- Update the following parameters as required.
- Field Delimiter—Select from Comma, Tab, Semicolon and Space; or enter a character for Other.
- Numeric Group Separator—Character used to separate thousands and hundreds, if any.
- Decimal Separator—Character used to separate whole numbers and decimals.
- Skip First Rows—If the .csv file has header rows, enter the number of header rows.
- Pattern Name Source—Select from:
- Column—Use this option if importing data for holes in multiple patterns and the pattern name exists as a column of data in the file.
- Active Pattern—Assume that the active pattern is the pattern into which to import data.
- Current Pattern—Assume that the currently displayed pattern is the pattern into which to import data.
- File Name—Determine the pattern from the name of the file being imported.
- Default Date and Time
- Today—Whether to use the current date and time.
- Shift—Select from defined shifts. See Maintain Shifts.
- To use a template to define which fields are the column names for the data:
- Click Load Template.
- Select the template.
- Click OK.
Note: See Maintain CSV Import Templates for how to define the default template.
- To manually define which fields are the column names for the data, for each data column:
- Drag a field name from the Fields column to the yellow header of the data column.
- Select the behaviour for blank cells from:
- Blank Is Invalid—When validating the data, a blank cell in this column generates an error message.
- Blank Is Not Set—Existing data is not overridden.
- Blank Is Null—Existing data is replaced with a Null value.
- Update the unit of measure if required.
- To save the column definition:
- Click Save Template or Save Template As as required.
- Search for a file location and enter a file name.
- Click OK.
- Click Validate Data.
The status of the validation displays. For example, if you try to assign a boolean field to a column with numerical data, that column displays in red and must be corrected before you can import the data.
- If the validation is successful, click Import Data to Database.
- Select whether to save changes to the template.
A confirmation message displays the number of rows to be imported.
Note: The changes will be saved automatically. Imported data overwrites any previously entered drill data.
- Click OK.
A status message displays.
- Click OK.
- Close the Drill Log Import screen.
