Import a Measure Log
You can import measurements data from an external system if the data is in a .csv file. See File Formats.
Activity Steps
- Select the Measure module.
- Select a drill pattern in the DataBlast Items Tree.
The drill pattern displays in the Viewport.
- On the Measure Ribbon Menu, in the Dip group, click Import Measure Logs.
The Measure Log Import screen displays.
- Click the ellipsis (...) to browse for and select the data file in .csv format. See File Formats.
The data from the .csv file displays.
- Update the following parameters as required.
- Field Delimiter—Select from Comma, Tab, Semicolon and Space; or enter a character for Other.
- Numeric Group Separator
- Decimal Separator
- Skip First Rows—If the .csv file has header rows, enter the number of header rows.
- Pattern Name Source—Select from:
- Column—Use this option if importing data for holes in multiple patterns and the pattern name exists as a column of data in the file.
- Active Pattern—Assume that the active pattern is the pattern into which to import data.
- Current Pattern—Assume that the currently displayed pattern is the pattern into which to import data.
- File Name—Determine the pattern from the name of the file being imported.
- Default Date and Time
- Today—Whether to use the current date and time.
- Shift—Select from defined shifts. See Maintain Shifts.
- To use a template to define which fields are the column names for the data:
- Click Load Template.
- Select the template.
- Click OK.
Note: See Maintain CSV Import Templates for how to define the default template.
- To manually define which fields are the column names for the data, for each data column:
- Drag a field name from the Fields column to the yellow header of the data column.
- Select the behaviour for blank cells from:
- Blank Is Invalid—When validating the data, a blank cell in this column generates an error message.
- Blank Is Not Set—Existing data is not overridden.
- Blank Is Null—Existing data is replaced with a Null value.
- Update the unit of measure if required.
- To save the column definition:
- Click Save Template or Save Template As as required.
- Search for a file location and enter a file name.
- Click OK.
- Click Validate Data.
The status of the validation displays. For example, if you try to assign a boolean field to a column with numerical data, that column displays in red and must be corrected before you can import the data.
- If the validation is successful, click Import Data to Database.
- Select whether to save changes to the template.
A confirmation message displays the number of rows to be imported.
Note: The changes will be saved automatically. Imported data overwrites any previously entered measurements.
- Click OK.
A status message displays.
- Click OK.
- Close the Measure Log Import screen.
