Troubleshooting
In addition to the error logging configured via the Service Control » Service settings in the DataBlast Client, and in the Windows Event Manager, DataBlast Pro includes the following troubleshooting tools.
Log Viewer
You can configure diagnostic logging via Site Maintenance » Service Control » Service in the DataBlast Client.
The locations for log files are the DataBlast subfolders under C:\ProgramData\Datamine. You can import as many log files as required. Log files can be for different applications; for example, you can import log files for the DataBlast Service, DataBlast Client and for BlastPad.
Activity Steps
- In the Windows Start menu, select All Apps » Datamine » DataBlast Log Viewer; or in the DataBlast installation folder, double-click DataBlast Server » Log Viewer » DataBlast.LogViewer.exe.
The DataBlast Log Viewer displays.
- Click the ellipsis (...) to enter a data source connection string to the DataBlast Logs database. Default: Data Source=localhost;Initial Catalog=DataBlastLogs;Integrated Security=True.
Note: If the DataBlast Logs database does not exist, when you click Import Files(s), a prompt displays to create the database. Click OK to confirm the database creation.
- Import log files as required:
- Click Import File(s).
The Import File(s) screen displays.
- Click the ellipsis (...) to browse for and select log files.
- Select whether to Replace Existing Records.
- Click Import.
- Click Import File(s).
- To limit the records by start date:
- Check Show Records From.
- Enter a start date and time.
- To limit the records by end date:
- Check Show Records Until.
- Enter an end date and time.
- Enter the number of Hours Offset from GMT to Local time if required.
- Click Retrieve Data.
You can group, sort and filter records as required.
Database Extractor
Use the Database Extractor if your database is large (for example, 10GB+) and if Datamine Support requests only an extract of your data.
Activity Steps
- In the Windows Start menu, select All Apps » Datamine » DataBlast Database Extractor; or in the DataBlast installation folder, double-click DataBlast Server » DataBlast Database Extractor » DataBlastDatabaseExtractor.exe.
The DataBlast Database Extractor displays.
Note: The default settings are read from the configured database connection settings. See Configure Database Connection Settings.
- Select the Server Name.
- Select the Login Details from:
- Windows Authentication
- SQL Server Authentication—Enter the User Name and Password.
- Select the Database Name.
- Update the Database Timeout if required. Default: 0 milliseconds.
- Click Next.
- Edit the Destination Database Name if required. Default: CopyOfDataBlast.
- Select whether the following options apply.
- Delete Existing Database
- Customise Extraction—If checked, the next screen displays a list of database tables. Select the tables to exclude.
- Include Deleted Tree Items
- Purge Empty Folders
- Exclude Hole Segment Data
- Click Next.
- Select the tree items to include. You can enter a search term to locate tree items if required.
- Click Next.
- Click Start Extraction.
