Update Work Package Quantity

To access this screen:

  • Work Package ribbon >> Update >> Update Driving Quantity.

Use this screen to change the Driving Quantity for the selected task without regenerating the Work Package.

The Driving Quantity is the quantity value that controls the Work Package calculation for the selected parent task. When you enter a new value and update the task, DTS recalculates the related Work Package values for that task.

As such, you can use this screen when the task quantity has changed and you need the related Work Package values to match the new quantity.

Tip: This helps you correct planning data quickly and keep generated task values aligned with the current task quantity.

Activity steps:

  1. Display the Update Work Package Quantity screen.

  2. Review the Name of the Work Package linked to the selected schedule task. This is defined on the Generate Work Packages/Tasks screen.

  3. Driving Quantity shows the current quantity for the task. You define this value when you generate Work Packages and tasks.

  4. Total Cycles shows the current number of cycles for the selected task. In effect, this is the number of distinct Work Package tasks created under the parent task.

  5. Cycle Quantity shows the quantity used for each Work Package cycle. This is also defined on the Generate Work Packages/Tasks screen.

  6. New Quantity is the only editable field on this screen. Use it to enter the new Driving Quantity for the selected task.

  7. Update applies the new quantity to the selected task, refreshing the Tasks and Gantt area view.
