Reapply Work Package
To reapply work package changes to the existing schedule:
-
Work Package ribbon >> Update >> Reapply Work Package.
After you generate Work Packages in DTS, you may need to edit them afterwards. For example, you may need to update a formula, rate, or other setting in the Work Package definition.
One way to change an existing task is to delete the tasks and regenerate them, or to use Undo (Ctrl+Z) and then recreate the Work Packages. However, you can perform an in-place update using this screen, which is often quicker.
Use Reapply Work Package when:
-
You have edited a Work Package definition (for example, drill rate, blast duration, haul rate, formulas, or other parameters), and
-
The Work Package has already been applied to one or more tasks in your schedule, and
-
You want those existing tasks to pick up the new values without deleting or regenerating anything.
Typical examples:
-
Correcting a production rate (for example, drill from 2 m/d to 3 m/d)
-
Adjusting a duration (for example, blast from 4 h to 5 h)
-
Updating haul rates (for example, from 2.0 t/h to 2.5 t/h)
-
Fixing any missed or incorrect values in the Work Package definition
When you reapply work package changes, your application will:
-
Re‑evaluate the selected parent tasks using the current Work Package definition.
-
Update the derived Work Package tasks beneath each parent with the new values and formulas.
-
Keep the outline structure and any inserted tasks in place (for example, the “Inserted Task” in the test dataset remains in the same position).
Note: This means you can safely correct the Work Package definition and then push those changes into the schedule without breaking links or having to rebuild the structure.
How this Helps with Data Synchronization
In planning workflows where projects are created in an external product such as Studio OP or Studio OP and then synchronised with DTS, you can create and assign Work Packages to parent tasks that originated in the external applications.
If design changes are later made in the external Studio application (for example, quantities or structure changes) and then synchronised back into DTS, you can now quickly and easily reapply the Work Packages to refresh the derived tasks under those parent tasks.
Activity steps:
-
Open your schedule that already has Work Packages applied.
-
Activate the Work Package ribbon.
-
In the task list, select the parent tasks that have the Work Package you’ve updated (for example, tasks with IDs 1.2 and 1.3 in the sample dataset).
-
Click OK to update the Work Package definition.
-
Click Reapply Work Package on the ribbon.
