Task Information: Resources

The Resources tab can be used to view the assigned resources to the selected task.

The following table describes the fields on this screen as shown below:

Field Description
Rate of 'Fixed Rate' tasks is determined by

Specifies the means of calculating the rate of tasks that have assigned more than one resource using the Driving assignment Type. Select a value from the drop-down list. Valid values are:

  • Combined rate of all 'Driving' resources - this means that each Driving resource assigned to this task contributes to the production rate, i.e. by assigning more individual resources the effective production rate is increased.
  • Lowest rate of all 'Driving' resources - this means that the slowest Driving resource assigned to this task is the bottle-neck and determines the effective production rate.
Use the following calendar to schedule

Specifies the calendar to be applied to scheduling the task. Select a value from the drop-down list. Valid values are:

  • Task Calendar - this means that the task calendar is used for scheduling instead of the resource calendars.
  • Resources Calendar - this means that each resource will work according to its own calendar, which means that resources may end up NOT working together. The task calendar is ignored.
  • Intersection of resource calendars - this means that work will only take place when every resource assigned to the task is available to do work. The task calendar is ignored.
ID The unique identifier of the resource.

This ID is assigned to the resource when the resource is created. For more information, see Creating Resources.

Name The name of the resource.

This name is assigned to the resource when the resource is created. For more information, see Creating Resources.

Units The number of resources assigned to the task.

The number of units cannot be modified for Effort Driven tasks (as this is a calculated value).

Type The type of the assignment. Assignments can be defined as:
  • Driving - the task duration depends on this resource. Effectively the rate of the resource is used to drive the task.
  • Required - a set number of resources is required for the duration of the task.
  • Effort Driven - the number of resources required is calculated from the task and the resource rates.

The default Assignment Options for resources is set in the Advanced option of the Project Settings screen.

Rate The rate of the resource as assigned to the task.

This rate is set when you create the resource. For more information, see Creating Resources.
