Create a Standalone Database

Permissions note: For this activity, you need permission to create databases (dbcreator or sysadmin) on the specified PC or database server. You also need LandTracker Admin permissions.

Activity Steps

  1. On the Dashboard, in the Settings menu, click Manage Database Connections.

The Manage DB Connections screen displays.

  2. Click Add New Row in the data grid.
  3. Complete the following fields.
    • Name—A name by which you can identify this database. This name must be Test if you want to copy data from another database into it. Otherwise, it can be any name.
    • Server—The server or PC name and the database server instance name. The format could be either the ServerName, or ServerName\SQL Server instance name.
    • DBName—The name of the database.
  4. Click Create/Update StandaloneDatabase.

    A confirmation message displays.

  5. Click Deploy Database.

A Windows Command screen runs. When it displays Press any key to continue, the database has been created and you can close the window.

  6. To copy data from another database:
    1. Select the database to copy in the data grid of the Manage DB Connections screen.
    2. Click Copy to Test.

      A confirmation message displays.

Warning: This process will replace any existing data in the standalone test database. If you choose to include the activity log, the copying takes longer to complete, because it copies the database's entire history records. Including the activity log is usually only required when a database is moved to a new server or is being restored from a backup. Including the activity log cannot be used when copying from one Azure database to another.

    3. Click Include Activity Log or click OK.
