Database Management

An Azure database is created, supported and managed by LandTrack Systems. This is your 'Master' database.

LandTrack Systems keeps all client data confidential and does not share it with any third parties, only retaining copies for backups and while providing support. Databases and backups are stored on separated, secured servers not generally accessible from the main network.

LandTracker includes functionality to create standalone or subscriber databases, and can be used with multiple databases if required.

Database Permissions

To create databases, you need:

  • dbcreator or sysadmin permissions on the specified PC or database server
  • LandTracker Admin permissions

To access a database, you need the db_owner role membership for the database.

For your Azure database managed by LandTrack Systems, contact LandTrack Systems Support when you need to add or change database access for a user. For new users, provide their name and email address.

Default Database

The default database is the one that opens every time you launch LandTracker. You can change which database is your default database. You can also switch to a non-default database. See Connect to a Database.

If you are connected to your default database, the background colour of the Dashboard is pale blue. If you are connected to a non-default database, the background colour of the Dashboard is salmon orange. The Status Bar displays the currently connected database.

Database Types

Subscriber Databases

The Subscriber Database feature is deprecated, and not to be used.

Standalone Databases

A standalone database can be useful for testing purposes; for example to test changes to action definitions. The standalone database can have a copy of the contents of your 'Master' database but cannot synchronise changes back to the 'Master' database. See Create a Standalone Database.
