Customise the Column Display in a Data Grid
Important: Any changes you make to the display of a data grid are saved automatically and locally on your machine. When you next open that view, LandTracker displays the data grid as you last viewed it. You can also save customised views with new names, and if you are an editor or administrator, you can share a custom view with other users. See Manage Custom Views.
To customise which columns display:
- To display the template name as a column, right-click the data grid settings icon and select Select Columns > Template from the menu.
- To display or hide columns:
- Right-click the data grid settings icon and select Select Columns and From Template, Not on Template or Other Columns as required from the menu.
Note: If the data grid is for actions or related data (but not for tasks), you can also display or hide columns from the parent asset. The parent asset is the tenement, agreement, environment, group or contact to which the action or related data belongs.
A list of available columns of that type displays.
- Check (that is, select) the columns to display, and uncheck (that is, clear) the columns to hide.
- Click OK.
- Right-click the data grid settings icon and select Select Columns and From Template, Not on Template or Other Columns as required from the menu.
To reorder columns:
- Click and drag a column header until a dark vertical line displays between the columns where you want the column to display.
To change column widths:
- Hover your mouse pointer over the border between two column headers.
The mouse pointer changes to a double-headed arrow.
- Click and drag the column border as required.
To make some columns always visible even when scrolling the data grid horizontally:
- Right-click the right-most column that you want to always see and select Freeze Column(s) from the menu.
That column and any columns to the left of that column no longer scroll horizontally.
- To unfreeze the column(s), right-click any column and select Freeze Column(s) from the menu again.
To rename a column:
- Right-click the column header and select Rename Column Header from the menu.
- Enter the new name in the popup field in the menu.
- Click outside of the menu.
To change the format of linked data in a column:
- Right-click the column header and select Column Link Format and the required format from the menu:
- Name - Code
- Code - Name
- Name
- Code
To clear all locally stored changes to the column display, filtering, sorting and grouping:
- Right-click the view name or the data grid settings icon and select Reset View from the menu.
