Create a Container

Security Note: You need the Allow container maintenance security right in the Supply Chain user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Supply Chain panel in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Expand the Discrete Units » Container Categories node.
  3. Right-click a container category and select New » Container from the menu.

    The Container displays.

  4. Update the following fields as required.
    • Name
    • Container Type—Select from the container types defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer.

Note: Only select a container type that has a Storage Type of Bulk Only or Both because a bulk package group will be created for the container, not a discrete unit package group.

    • ISO Code—International Standards Organisation (ISO) code of the container.
    • Tare Weight
    • Mass UOM—Select from the Mass units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor.
    • Description
  5. Assign the container to a location to create its bulk package group:
    1. Select the Current Location from the discrete unit and despatch locations defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer. (A discrete unit division cannot be selected.) Despatch locations are rail sidings, truck despatch locations, barge terminals and port locations. A current location can be selected later if required; however, a current location must be selected before the container can be moved.
    2. Confirm the package group creation.

Note: The Current Location is read-only after the package group is created. MineMarket updates the Current Location if the container or its package group is moved.

  6. Click Save.

Note: If the Package Group status definition exists, the package group is assigned the initial status. This status definition controls whether the package group is editable and selectable. See Status Definitions. The Current Status displayed in the header fields of the package group is read-only.

  7. To edit or view the package group, click Edit Package Group.

The package group has the same name as the container; however, this can be changed if required. The package group can also be found via the Package Group Explorer. See Package Groups and Bulk Package Groups for more information.
