Create a Package Group Batch

Security Note: You need the Allow package group maintenance security right in the Supply Chain user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Open the Package Group Explorer.
  2. Select the Package Group Batches tab.
  3. Right-click in the table and select New from the menu.

    The Package Group Batch displays.

Note: You can also create a package group batch by highlighting and right-clicking a package group in the Package Group Explorer or on the Package Groups tab of a Discrete Unit Location, Rail Siding, Truck Location, Barge Terminal or Port Location. The package groups in the batch become child package groups of the highlighted package group. The Organisation, Despatch Order, Parent Package Group, Location, Discrete Unit Division, Storage Type, Container Type, and Mass UOM are inherited from the parent package group.

  4. Complete the following fields.
    • Name
    • Location—The location in which the package groups in the batch are created. Select from the discrete unit locations, discrete unit divisions and despatch locations defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer. Despatch locations are rail sidings, truck despatch locations, barge terminals and port locations. This field is read-only after package groups have been created for the batch.
    • Storage Type—Storage type of the package groups in the batch. Select from Bulk Only, Packages Only (default) or Both. If a Parent Package Group is selected, the storage type of the package group batch must match the storage type of the parent package group. This field is read-only after package groups have been created for the batch.
    • Mass UOM—Unit of measure associated with the mass of the package groups in the batch. Select from the Mass units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor. This field is read-only after package groups have been created for the batch.
    • Requested Package Groups—Total number of package groups to create for the batch.
    • Opening Date—Opening date to assign to the package groups in the batch. If a Parent Package Group is selected, the opening date of the package groups to be created must be later than or equal to the latest activity date of the parent package group.
