Create a Service Trip Using a Template

Security Note: You need the Allow new barge despatch from template security right in the Despatches user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Perform one of the following steps:
    1. To create the service trip via the Barge Explorer:
      1. Open the Barge Explorer.
      2. Right-click in the Timetable tab and select New From Template » [Service Trip Template] from the menu.
    2. To create the service trip via the Solution Explorer:
      1. Select the Transport panel in the Solution Explorer.
      2. Expand the Barges » Service Trip Templates node.
      3. Right-click a service trip template and select New » Service Trip from the menu.

    The Service Trip displays.

  2. Update the Service Trip name if required.
  3. Ensure that a Barge Name is assigned to the service trip. Select from the barges defined on the Transport panel of the Solution Explorer. This field is read-only if there is a loading transaction, unloading transaction, discrete unit movement, or opening survey on the service trip.

    Note: The service trip cannot be loaded until a Barge Name is assigned.

  4. Update the following fields as required.
    • Tug—Select from the tugs defined on the Transport panel of the Solution Explorer.
    • Despatch Number
    • Captain
    • Chief Engineer
    • Planned Product—Select from the products and brands defined on the Material panel of the Solution Explorer.
  5. Click Save.

    Note: If the Service Trip status definition exists, the service trip is assigned the initial status. This status definition controls whether the service trip is editable and selectable. See Status Definitions.
