Enter Sample Data for a Discrete Unit Movement

Security Note: You need the Allow sample maintenance security right in the Samples domain security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. For a package or bulk package group movement, open the related Movement Editor.
  2. For a discrete unit package group movement, open the related Movement Editor or:
    1. Open the Package Group (DU).
    2. Select the Manual tab.
    3. Select the movement in the Activity table.
    4. Select the Movement Samples tab.
  3. To view samples associated with the movement, even if they are not in the date range of the search criteria, click Show All Samples For Movement.
  4. To associate an existing sample with the movements:
    1. Select the Start Date and End Date in the Samples field group.
    2. Click Search or press F3.

Only samples that match the movement flow display.

    3. Check Selected for the sample.
  5. To create a sample to associate with the movements:
    1. Right-click in the Samples table and select New from the menu.
    2. Select a sample template from the sample templates assigned to the movement flow.

Note: If the Sample status definition exists, the sample is assigned the initial status. This status definition controls whether the sample is editable and selectable. See Status Definitions and View or Change Sample Status.

    3. Check Selected for the sample.
    4. Update the Sample name and Sample Date if required.
    5. Update the Value for each analyte. The unit of measure is as defined for the sample template in the movement flow.

Press Tab or Enter to move between cells when entering sample data. Use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to copy and paste data into the table. Data is pasted into cells from left to right for rows, and top to bottom for columns.

    6. If the Sample Analyte status definition exists, select the Status for each analyte.

Note: You can only change the status if the status transition is allowed for your user group. Status link configuration may require that only different users can change consecutive statuses, or that the user who changes the status cannot be the user who last modified the sample analyte. To view the status history for the individual analyte, right-click the status and select Open Analyte Status History from the menu.

  6. Click Save.
