Repack Packages

Security Note: You need the Allow discrete unit maintenance security right in the Supply Chain user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Perform one of the following steps:
    1. Open the Package Explorer and search for packages. See Find Packages.
    2. Open the Discrete Unit Location, Rail Siding, Truck Location, Barge Terminal or Port Location. and select the Packages tab.
    3. Open the Train, Truck Despatch, Service Trip or Shipment and select the Package Unloading tab.
  2. To select (that is, highlight) multiple consecutive packages:
    1. Click the first package.
    2. Press and hold down the Shift key.
    3. Click the last package.
  3. To select (that is, highlight) multiple non-consecutive packages:
    1. Click the first package.
    2. Press and hold down the Ctrl key.
    3. Click each of the other packages.
  4. Right-click a single package or the highlighted packages and select Manage Package Repacking from the menu.

    Note: If selecting multiple packages, the packages must have the same unit of measure and be in the same location and division if applicable.

    The Package Repacking screen displays.

  5. Select the package repacking settings:
    1. Select the Target Package Type; that is, the package type into which to repack the source packages. Select from the package types defined on the Supply Chain panel of the Solution Explorer.
    2. Select whether to Add New Packages To Parent Package Group. If checked, the repacked packages are in the package group of the source package. If unchecked, the repacked packages are not in any package group.
    3. Select whether to Generate Names Of New Packages based on standard naming conventions, including any applicable naming script.

      If checked, the new package is given a new name after the repacking. For example, if repacking a package called Package-0013, the new package has the next available number, such as Package-0059. A temporary name displays until the repacking occurs.

      If unchecked, the new package is given a name based on the original package name. For example, if repacking a package called Package-0013, the new package is called Package-0013-1.

    4. Select a Repacking Date. This date and time must be later than the Date Applicable From of the current package state (in the activity history) of the source package(s).

    The Repacked Packages table displays the default repacked packages. All fields except for the Batch name, Package Type and Mass UOM are editable.

  6. To reduce the number of repacked packages, perform one of the following steps:
    1. Right-click a package in the Repacked Packages table and select Delete from the menu.
    2. Highlight multiple packages in the Repacked Packages table (by dragging the mouse in the left-most column, or clicking while holding down Ctrl or Shift), and then right-click and select Delete from the menu.
    3. Right-click a package in the Repacked Packages table and select Select All from the menu and then Delete from the menu.
  7. To increase the number of repacked packages, right-click in the Repacked Packages table and select New from the menu.
  8. Update the following fields in the Repacked Packages table if required.
    • Name—If Generate Names Of New Packages is checked the displayed name is temporary. After repacking, the new package is given a new name.
    • Number Of Units—Default: The number of units of the target package type.
    • Net Mass—If the mass of repacked packages is edited, MineMarket updates the total remaining net mass. Packages can only be repacked if the net mass is fully allocated to the repacked packages. Default: The net mass of the target package type. If the source package net mass cannot be split evenly into the target package type, an additional package is created as required with the remaining mass.
    • Gross Mass—Default: The default gross mass of the target package type.

  9. Click Repack.

    A message displays the status of package creation.

  10. Click OK.
  11. Click Close.

    Note: Source packages no longer display on despatches, in discrete unit locations or on the Package Explorer.

  12. To undo the repacking of packages:
    1. Locate packages, as described in step 1.
    2. Right-click a repacked package in the table and select Undo Repacking from menu.

      A confirmation message displays.

    3. Click OK.

      Note: Package repacking can only be undone if it is the latest activity in the package activity history for every repacked package from the source package(s). For example, if a package on a shipment is repacked and then the packages are unloaded, the package repacking cannot be undone. The repacked packages must also all be in an editable status.

  13. Click Save.
