Create a Barge

Security Note: You need the Allow barge maintenance security right in the Barges domain security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Transport panel in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Expand the Barges » Barge Types node.
  3. Right-click a barge type and select New » Barge from the menu.

    The Barge displays.

  4. Update the Barge Name if required.

    If you change the barge name after the barge has been saved for the first time, a record is added to the Previous Names table.

  5. Select the Details tab.
  6. Complete the following fields as required.
    • Capacity and Capacity Unit—Select from the Mass units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor.
    • Length and Length Unit—Select from the Length units defined in the Unit Conversion Editor.
    • Width and Width Unit
    • Height and Height Unit
    • Country of Origin—Select from the countries enabled in the Country Editor.
    • Year Built
    • Owner—Select from the organisations and companies defined on the Organisations panel of the Solution Explorer that have the Organisation Role of Barge Owners.
    • Lease Basis—Select from the Barge Lease Basis list items in the List Editor.
    • Barge Notes

    Note: The Barge Class is determined from the barge transport class for which the Minimum Tonnage is greater than the Capacity of the barge.

  7. Select whether the barge is Self Powered.
  8. If the barge is not self-powered, select the Default Tug if required. Select from the tugs defined on the Transport panel of the Solution Explorer.
  9. To define the barge structure:
    1. Select the Structure tab.

      Note: Barges are created with one hold, and must always have one hold defined.

    2. Complete the following fields as required.
      • Barge Hold
      • Volume
      • Volume Unit
      • Local Centre of Gravity—Comment on the centre of gravity for loading purposes.
  10. Click Save.
