Create a Berth

Berths are created at port locations or barge terminals so that more details can be recorded for the actual functions that occur there.

Security Note: You need the Allow location maintenance security right in the Supply Chain user group security rights group for this activity.

Activity Steps

  1. Select the Supply Chain panel in the Solution Explorer.
  2. Expand the Supply Chain » Business Areas node.
  3. Expand the node for the port location or barge terminal.
  4. Right-click the Berths node and select New » Berth from the menu.

    The Berth displays.

  5. Update the Berth Name if required.
  6. Select the Loading Type from None, Loading Only, Unloading Only and Both. If None, the berth can still be used to enter itinerary dates and times, transport events or delays.
  7. To copy parameters from another berth, select the berth to Copy Parameters From. Select from the berths at the same port location or barge terminal.
  8. If Loading Type is Loading Only:
    1. Set Select Parameters For to Loading.
    2. Select the Berth Parameters tab.
    3. Complete the following fields.
      • Loading Rate, Unit
      • Swap Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Berthing Loading Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Documentation Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Unberthing Depart Time - Time Period, Unit
  9. If Loading Type is Unloading Only:
    1. Set Select Parameters For to Unloading.
    2. Select the Berth Parameters tab.
    3. Complete the following fields.
      • Unloading Rate, Unit
      • Swap Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Berthing Unloading Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Documentation Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Unberthing Depart Time - Time Period, Unit
  10. If Loading Type is Both:
    1. Set Select Parameters For to Loading.
    2. Select the Berth Parameters tab.
    3. Complete the following fields.
      • Loading Rate, Unit (for the unloading)
      • Swap Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Berthing Loading Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Documentation Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Unberthing Depart Time - Time Period, Unit
    4. Set Select Parameters For to Unloading.
    5. Complete the following fields.
      • Unloading Rate, Unit
      • Swap Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Berthing Unloading Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Documentation Time - Time Period, Unit
      • Unberthing Depart Time - Time Period, Unit
  11. To limit which process flows can be used for loading and unloading, select the Process Flows from the process flows to or from the port location or barge terminal.
  12. Click Save.
